Fitch Camp opens its 72th summer season on Monday, June 20.

Located on Cable Lake just off Garrett Road, the day camp has operated continuously since 1941, when E. Root Fitch endowed the camp program with the camp property along with financial assistance.

Students who live in the Dowagiac school district and have completed grades 2-7 are eligible and welcome to attend. Second, third and fourth graders attend

each Monday and Wednesday from June 17-July 27. Fourth through seventh graders attend Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 18-July 25.

Fitch Camp will be closed July 4 for the holiday.

Fitch Camp provides outdoor education opportunities in a beautiful setting. Activities planned for this season include swimming, swimming lessons, canoeing, fishing, golf, tennis, volleyball, scooter hockey, kick ball, softball and crafts.

Lunch and snacks are provided. The cost to attend is $1 per day.

Buses pick up campers at the following sites: Kincheloe Elementary School, Justus Gage Elementary School, Patrick Hamilton Elementary School, Dowagiac Middle School, St. John’s Day Care and Eagle’s Woods Apartments.

Registration forms are required for children to attend and have been provided to each child in the Dowagiac Union Schools.

Extra forms are available at each school office.
