Edwardsburg upset by Vicksburg

VICKSBURG — Host Vicksburg hit 10-of-12 free throws in upsetting Edwardsburg 55-51 in Wolverine Conference boys basketball Tuesday night.

Both teams tossed in 12 field goals, but the Eddies had seven 3-pointers compared to just four by the Bulldogs.

Edwardsburg went to the free throw line just five times, connecting on four of them.

The Eddies let a 19-8 first quarter lead slowly evaporate. Edwardsburg led by 14 (35-21) at halftime and 45-39 after three quarters.

The host Bulldogs outscored the Eddies 16-6 in the final quarter to pull off the upset.

Abe Barwegen had a game-high 24 points to lead Vicksburg, which also got 14 points from Colin McCaw.

Josh Kozinski led the Eddies with 21 points. Jason Schimpa added 14.
