Ferry Street Resource Center director resigns

The Ferry Street Resource Center in Niles is in need of a new director.

Lisa Busby resigned last week after serving as director since the Ferry Street Resource Center opened in 2005.

Busby could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

Diane Bass, president of the center’s board of directors, said she doesn’t know why Busby resigned. Busby’s resignation letter did not specify a reason, according to Bass, who said she hasn’t spoken to Busby since receiving the letter last week.

“She wrote her resignation freely… the board accepted it with regret,” Bass said.

The board is making arrangements to bring in an interim director to be named at a later date. For now, Bass said, a group of two to three volunteers will run the center.

A press release indicated the center is in full operation while “it restructures its programs and activities to improve services.”

The center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

All scheduled services, including assistance with Department of Human Services functions, are available to the public.

Orientation for fall classes for Adult Basic Education and Pre-GED programs will be held Monday at the center, 620 Ferry St.
