Niles golfers finish third at Elbel

SOUTH BEND – The Niles golf team placed third at a quad meet hosted by South Bend Washington at Elbel Golf Course Thursday.

South Bend Clay was the winner with a team total of 214. Washington finished second at 234 and Niles third at 239. Marquette placed fourth with a 262.

Abby Mattson shot 55 to lead the Vikings, who also got a 57 from Sarah Cramer, a 63 from Ryan Hinegardner and a 64 from Ele Hein.

“The girls are improving every time they go and play,” Niles coach Dan Palmer said. “They are picking up different aspects of the game each and every week.”
