Antonio “Tony” S. Iglesias, 79, of Niles, died at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29., 2012, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind., following a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 8, 1932, in Pontevedra, Cereedo, Spain, to Benigno and Teresa (Sueiro) Iglesias. He worked as a journeyman electrician for Local #153 of South Bend. In 1952, he moved to the Niles area from South Bend.

Tony was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Army. He was also an avid Notre Dame fan.

On May 5, 1962, in Valparaiso, Ind., he married Rosetta Theodbald, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Byron, of Benton Harbor; and a sister, Victoria Nieto, of Spain.

Services for Antonio S. Iglesias will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles, with the Rev. David Otto, of Saint Mary Catholic Church, officiating.

Friends may call from noon Wednesday until service time at the funeral home. Military honors will follow burial committal services.
