Fernwood’s annual garden party Saturday evening was enjoyed by the 300 people in attendance.

Photo submitted Steve and Cindy Ellis of Sawyer were the high bidders for the Galapagos Islands cruise donated by Abercrombie & Kent.

Entering the Bauer Terrace, guests were welcomed by pillow-covered benches, white floating flowers, tall pillar candles and violin music, performed in the gazebo by Elli Edwards of South Bend. Descending to the huge tent, party-goers passed a selection of silent auction items that were donated by area sponsors, including an array of plants and blooming flowers in a selection of containers and other gift items from area businesses.
Entertainment was provided by Quartet NorthSide under the tent while guests enjoyed craft beer by Greenbush Brewing Co. of Sawyer and wine with hors d’oeuvres.
Eight artists of the Sculpture Fernwood outdoor sculpture exhibition were present as the 10 sculptures were previewed. A dinner was prepared by Executive Chef Tim Carrigan.
This year’s featured live auction item was a trip for two to the Galapagos Islands, offered by Abercrombie & Kent. The happy high-bidders of the Galapagos Islands trip were Steve and Cindy Ellis of Sawyer, who said they had been thinking of going to the Galapagos. This was the perfect opportunity to make that dream come true and help Fernwood at the same time.
The  bidders will explore these islands with Abercrombie & Kent aboard M/V “Eclipse,” a Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice.
