The Edwardsburg Lions Club will have a booth at the 2nd Annual Business to Business Thursday, Sept. 29 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hope Methodist Fellowship Hall on Elkhart Road in Edwardsburg.
The Lions are offering Project KidSight with its new Pedi-Vision camera to screen preschool children’s eyes from ages 1 to 5. It will give parents instant results if their children should be seen by an optometrist.
The new camera is connected to a laptop computer and measures the pupils of the child’s eye to determine if he or she may have lazy eye, cross eye, refractive error or cataracts. The parents are given the results right after the screening is done.
There is no longer any waiting for the pictures to be sent off for the results at the children’s hospital. The Lions are very excited about this new, expensive PediVision camera, and it should pay for itself in about three years with savings on film, mailings, postage and other expenses.
The Lions want the children ready for school so they can see the marker boards and be able to read along with the rest of the class.  The Lions believe this is a very important for the kids of the community to get a good start in their early elementary years of school.
The Lions offer this service free to all children ages 1-5.
The Lions are also looking for new members to join the club. The club is involved in community projects and lends assistance to the community when in need. Stop by the club booth for information to join the club.
The Edwardsburg Lions’ mission statement is to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understand through Lions clubs. Several members will be at the booth for questions and information about what the Edwardsburg Lions Club has done for the community for 2010-2011.
