Eddies seventh at Allegan

ALLEGAN – The Edwardsburg varsity wrestling team finished seventh at the Allegan Southwest Classic on Saturday.

Host Allegan won the meet with 291 points, while Gaylor was second and Hastings third.
Rounding out the top five were Whitehall and Grand Rapids Northview.

Ivan Shaw and Terry Brasfield grabbed the top finishes for the Eddies as they placed second at 103- and 145-pounds respectively.

Michael Kempton and Devin Bywaters were both fifth at 112- and 189-pounds, while Cameron Warren was sixth at 125-pounds.

Edwardsburg opened its season on Thursday, Dec. 3 at the Three Rivers Quad.

The Eddies won both matches, defeating the host Wildcats 54-22 and knocking off Sturgis 58-19.

Winning matches for Edwardsburg against Three Rivers were Shaw (pin), Michael Borden (injury default), Caleb Watson (decision), Warren (decision), Lane Smous (pin), Brasfield (pin), Wade Smous (pin), Bradley Brasfield (pin), Bywaters (pin) and Troy Duck (pin).

Earning victories against Sturgis were Shaw (forfeit), Kempton (pin), Watson (pin), Warren  (pin), Lane Smous  (pin), Terry Brasfield  (pin), Wade Smous  (pin), Bradley Brasfield  (major decision), Bywaters  (pin) and Andrew Sapmaz (forfeit).
