EDWARDSBURG -Fellow students of Edwardsburg High School will gather at Hope United Methodist Church to remember Cody Michael Reid, 16, of Edwardsburg.
Reid died on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, as the result of a single car accident on May Street, Saturday, Sept. 12. He died in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind., where he was taken following the accident.

According to Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Chief Kenneth Wray, his officers are investigating the traffic crash that occurred on May Street at Britney Glenn in Ontwa Township south of Edwardsburg, which took the life of the Edwardsburg High School junior.

Officers from the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg received a 911 call of a crash that occurred at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.

When the officer arrived, he found that a Chevrolet Camero had apparently lost control skidding sideways several feet before hitting a very large oak tree, according to Chief Wray.

Speed may have been a factor, the police speculate. As Reid came over the hill on May Street, he may have had to swerve to avoid hitting two slower-moving cars.

This crash remains under investigation by the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police.
