Rangers move to within a game of .500 with win over Bulldogs

CASSOPOLIS - The host Cassopolis Rangers moved to within a game of the .500 mark with an easy victory over Centreville Tuesday night.
The Rangers (4-5) outscored the Bulldogs 26-12 in the first half on their way to a 53-39 non-conference victory.
Cassopolis, which defeated Brandywine 73-39 on Friday night, raced out to a 14-2 first quarter lead and never looked back.
The Rangers outscored Centreville 12-10 in the second period to open up a 14-point halftime advantage.
Things didn't get much better for the Bulldogs in the second half as the Rangers remained focused.
Cassopolis tossed in 10 points in the third quarter, while Centreville added 14 points to their side of the scoreboard to cut the lead to 36-26 heading into the final eight mintues of play.
The Rangers outscored the Bulldogs 17-13 in the fourth quarter to cruise home with the victory.
Dan Stanage led the Rangers with 13 points, while Lonnie Williams had 12 points. Cassopolis also got nine points from P.J. Smith and eight points each from Neal Bullocks and John Young.
Cass won the JV game, 78-70.
