NILES - The Michigan State Police Niles Post is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Wednesday at about 12:30 a.m. in Niles Township near M-51 and Pucker Street.
David Daughtry of Niles was the driver of a car traveling south-bound on M-51 approaching Pucker Street.
Nicholas Reed, 17, was the driver of the other vehicle with passengers Anthony Saviano, 16, David Conner, 17, and Emilee Hernandez, 16.
According to a news release, it appears that Reed was making a left turn onto M-51, intending to go north on Pucker Street, and pulled across the path of the oncoming south-bound car.
Daughtry was reportedly unable to avoid Reed's car and crashed into its left side. Daughtry had the right-of-way, as traffic on M-51 is not required to stop at this intersection.
Reed and Daughtry were transported by ambulance to Lakeland Regional Hospital in Niles for minor to moderate injuries. They are in stable condition.
The front passenger of the second car, Saviano, was checked by paramedics at the scene and released to a parent.
The rear seat passengers of the second car, Conner and Hernandez, were transported by ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital.
Hernandez sustained moderate to serious injuries and is currently stable. Conner suffered severe injuries and remains in critical condition.
According to the release, seatbelts were worn by Daughtry, Reed and Saviano.
