Dowagiac freshmen remain undefeated

VICKSBURG – The Dowagiac freshmen football team improved to 3-0 Thursday night with a 40-0 victory over host Vicksburg,
Derek Stark ran for 93 yards on nine carries and scored a touchdown for the Chieftains, who also got scores from Brendon Murray, Todd McIntyre and Brett Scanlon, who scored twice.
Stark also played well on defense wth a pair of interceptions in the second quarter.
Anteyon Russel and McIntyre also had interceptions for the Chieftains.
Charlie Rogers had two of the five sacks Dowagiac recorded.
Curtis Johnson had a 55-yard punt return for a touchdown.
JV football
The Dowagiac junior varsity football team was not as fortunate and suffered its first loss of the season, 36-6.
The Chieftains are now 2-1 on the season.
