Not that it came as a surprise to those who follow local government, but two long-time Niles city leaders have officially announced their upcoming retirements.

Niles City Administrator Terry Eull, who has held his position with the city for 13 years, and Public Works Director Neil Coulston will both retire Sept. 30.

At Monday’s city council meeting, Mayor Mike McCauslin read letters from the two of them announcing their decisions. McCauslin also said a committee of the whole meeting has been scheduled for Jan. 17 at 6 p.m. to discuss future plans and get the ball rolling on finding their replacements.
