Domestic violence call turns into drug arrest

Dowagiac Public Safety Director Tom Atkinson reports that officers of the Dowagiac Police Department were dispatched to a possible altercation in an alley near the 100 block of Main Street in the city on Wednesday, June 16, around 10:58 p.m.

When Officers arrived, they were able to determine that a domestic violence assault had just occurred in an apartment in the 100 block of Main Street.

After interviewing the subjects involved, officers arrested a 44-year-old male who lives at that residence for domestic violence-third offense.

Officers were then assisted by the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office in obtaining a search warrant for the residence.

Upon searching the residence, officers report locating a small amount of methamphetamine and marijuana.

The 44-year-old male was lodged at the Cass County Jail and charged with possession of methamphetamine and second offense of possession of marijuana.
