Mendon wins at Cassopolis

CASSOPOLIS – Host Cassopolis managed just a 2-3 record at its own Colossal Duals on Saturday.

Mendon won the tournament with a 5-0 record, defeating Watervliet 58-24, Cassopolis 60-18, Athens 66-15, Bridgman 72-12 and White Pigeon 54-27.

White Pigeon finished second with a 4-1 record, while Watervliet was third at 3-2.

The Rangers were fourth, Bridgman fifth (1-4) and Athens sixth (0-5).

Cassopolis lost to White Pigeon in the opening round 37-36, defeated Bridgman 54-27 in the third round, lost to Watervliet 37-36 in the fourth round and then defeated Athens 42-34 in the final round.

Shauntrell GilliamĀ  went 4-1 on the day for the Rangers at 103-pounds, while Braxton Velthouse (145), Devin Roberts (160) and Dominic Forbes (189) also lost just one match.
