Brandywine wrestlers go 1-4 at Vicksburg

VICKSBURG – The Brandywine wrestling team went 1-4 at the Vicksburg Invitational on Saturday.

The Dowagiac Chieftains posted a 1-4 record at the team tournament won by Portage Central with a 5-0 mark.

Host Vicksburg was second at 4-1, while Three Rivers was 3-2 and Mattawan 1-4.

The Chieftains’ lone victory came against Mattawan in the opening round, 40-33.

The Bobcats defeated the Chieftains 48-23 in the second round for their lone victory of the tournament.

Dowagiac was also defeated by Three Rivers (45-36), Vicksburg (36-36) and Portage Central (47-33).

The Bulldogs defeated the Chieftains on the eighth tiebreaker criteria (first match points scored).

Brandywine was defeated by Three Rivers (48-30), Portage Central (45-24) and Mattawan (36-24).

Going undefeated on the day for Dowagiac were Andrew Roden at 119-pounds, Ben Luth at 130-pounds and Casey Proshwitz at 145-pounds.

Going 4-1 on the day for the Bobcats were Ralph Sater, Matt Brinker, Chanc Ravish and Jimmie Wright.

Posting a 3-2 mark was A.J. Shell.
