NILES – Beverly Ann (Hand) True, 81, of Niles, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010, at Lakeland Community Hospital following an illness.

She was born on Nov. 1, 1928, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Amos and Lucille (Myers) Hand.

Beverly graduated from Niles High School. In 1954, she married Darwin True, who passed away in 1987.

A homemaker most of her life, Beverly also worked as a teacher’s assistant and was an attendant at Gene’s Poly Clean.

She enjoyed reading and collected stuffed animals and Native American Indian memorabilia.

Beverly was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Niles.

Beverly loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Beverly is survived by: one son, Ted (Sheila) True of Niles; three daughters, Peg (Wayne) Shafer of Eau Claire, Pat (Gary) Schrader of Niles and Nancy Williston (Scott Harman) of South Bend; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

In keeping with Beverly’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, March 13, to share memories and refreshments at Kozy Kitchen, 1100 N. Front St., Niles from 2 until 5 p.m.

Memorial contribution may be made in Beverly’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2300 Portage St., Suite 341, Kalamazoo, MI 49001.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Niles.
