Eighth grade girls’ basketball teams sweep St. Joe Upton

The Central Middle School eighth grade basketball teams swept St. Joe Upton on Monday.
The Orange team edged St. Joseph, 17-15 to improve to 8-2 on the year.
The Black team pummeled St. Joseph, 38-6, to improve to 9-1 on the season.
The seventh grade A team was defeated by St. Joseph, 24-6.
Shardatsha Fitchett scored 13 of Dowagiac's 17 points, while Lori Key and Beth Spaulding each scored two points.
Katy Stuppy scored 23 of the Black team's 38 points. Sada Nealey added 10 points.
Scoring two points were Tanisha White and Kahty Lindt.
Brittany Gnatz scored four points and Shelby Willis scored two points to lead the seventh grade squad.
The seventh grade A team defeated New Buffalo last week, 24-12, to improve to 4-5.
Brittany Gnatz scored 12 points for the Chieftains, who also got four points each from Katie Wood and Shelby Willis.
Tasia Diaz and Ashley Winters both scored two points.
The eighth grade Orange team defeated Galien, 27-7. The Black team scored a 43-23 win over New Buffalo.
Lori Key scored eight points to lead the Orange team, while Kayla Saviano scored seven. Beth Spaulding and Sardatsha Fitchett each scored four.
Sada Nealey and Katy Stuppy scored 15 and 14 points respectively for the Black squad.
Sara Shelton and Tanisha White scored five and four points.
