Four injured in Calvin Township accident

Four people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday in Calvin Township.

Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports that his deputies handled a traffic crash at 7:36 p.m. in Calvin Township, Cass County Mi at the intersection of Calvin Center Road and Williamsville Street.

Ashley Young, 19, of Cassopolis, was traveling westbound on Williamsville Road.  She advised that she was traveling too fast and was unable to stop at the stop sign at Williamsville Street and Calvin Center Road and struck a vehicle that was traveling south on Calvin Center Road.

Torri Irvine, 17, of Cassopolis, and Timothy Hufinagle, 18, of White Pigeon were also in the vehicle.

Young and Irvine were transported to Borgess Lee Memorial for treatment of their injuries.

The second vehicle was driven by Don Dean, 65, of Chesterton Ind., who was also injured and transported to Borgess Lee Memorial for treatment of his injuries.

Life Care Ambulance, Penn Township Fire and Porter Ambulance assisted deputies on the scene.

Seatbelts were worn at the time of the accident, which remains under investigation.
