“You’ll shoot your eye out, kid!”

The holidays wouldn’t be complete without the TV marathon of “A Christmas Story.” Now, Cassopolis Thespian Troupe 2323 is bringing the film classic to the Ross Beatty High School stage this weekend.

The 1983 movie has been adapted for musical theater, and set in the 1940s in Hohman, Ind., where 9-year-old Ralphie Parker’s is dreaming of an “Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle” under the tree for Christmas.

A cast of 18, in addition to backstage management, costumes, makeup, lights/sound and the set crew, will debut the play Friday at 7 p.m. Thomas Bosler stars as “Ralph as an adult,” who narrates the story. Rebeccah Kieffer stars as the “Mother,” and Robert Moore as “The Old Man” (Ralphie’s father). Dustin Roberts plays “Ralphie.” “A Christmas Story” is directed by Jean Porath.

Other performances will be at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $5 general admission and $4 for students and senior citizens.

But no production of “A Christmas Story” would be complete without one prop – the famous “leg lamp” The Old Man receives via mail order.

There will be a raffle for the 45-inch “leg lamp” used on the Cassopolis set. Tickets for the raffle are $1 and $5 for six. They can be purchased at the door, or in advance at the high school library. The drawing will be held after Sunday’s performance.
