SMC honors John Fannin

The Southwestern Michigan College Board of Trustees during its June 18 meeting recognized John Fannin for his 15 years of service to the college.

Fannin started at the college in July 1997 as executive director for Business Development and Corporate Services. He was appointed as vice president for Business Development and Corporate Services in 1998 and became vice president for Institutional Planning in 2001. In 2002, Fannin was appointed senior vice president of Planning and Institutional Research.

Currently, Fannin is chief of staff to the president, a position he was appointed to in 2010. He has a master’s in business administration in finance from the University of Notre Dame and a bachelor of science degree from Indiana State University.

Prior to joining SMC, Fannin served as president and chief executive officer of C.O Tools Inc. in Elkhart. In addition, Fannin has served as an adjunct faculty member with Ferris State University and SMC since 1989.
