Niles resident and author, Martin Klubeck, has written a new book designed to help readers understand metrics and how metrics can be used to improve business outcomes.

“Metrics: How to Improve Key Business Results” was published by Apress in December.

It is Klubeck’s second book. His first, “Why Organizations Struggle so Hard to Improve so Little,” was published by ABC-CLIO about two years ago.

“Metrics: How to Improve Key Business Results” shows readers step-by-step how to create a metrics program, with metrics being measurements for improvement.

“The saying goes, ‘what gets measured gets accomplished,’” said Klubeck, a strategy and planning consultant at Notre Dame University. “But that’s easier said than done unless you have a process to collect the right data, turn it into useful measures and use the resulting information effectively and responsibly.”

Klubeck said the book is for everyone, from small business owners to entrepreneurs.

“You could use it at a home to develop a metrics program around your budgeting and your finances at home and how you are doing things,” Klubeck said.

The book can be purchased on Amazon.com, Kindle devices or the publisher’s website apress.com. It can also be found at the Niles library.

Klubek is active in the Niles community, running a chess club for the library and volunteering for various nonprofits downtown, including the Pregnancy Care Center.

He is working with LMC to put together a course based on his two books.

He is working on the outline for a third book on how to write professional development plans.
