The Balos Family

Special to the Star

The bluegrass band The Balos Family will be playing a free concert at the Niles Riverfront Amphitheater Wednesday.

The Balos Family is a nine-person family band from Buchanan whose mission is to share God’s word through their music. They have been together for ten years and they travel all across the country.

Recently, the Balos Family has had their music appear on television shows such as “Great American Gospel” and “Bluegrass Road.”

Opportunities such as these has allowed for the kids to leave their jobs to focus more on their music.  This will come in handy when they start recording their new album in October.

But with all of their success The Balos Family is still happy to be playing near their hometown, at the Niles Riverfront Amphitheater.

“It’s a very nice setting and relaxing. The people are always good too,” said Jimmy Balos, 20, the family’s middle child and lead fiddle player.

The concert is sponsored by the City of Niles Parks Department and starts at 7 pm.
