SMC sets open house, pops concert

Open house is March 24

Southwestern Michigan College is hosting an open house for high school seniors and their families from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 24. Registration is required.
Events will be located in the Student Activity Center off the Dailey Road parking lot. Prospective students can get assistance with filling out their free application for federal student aid.
Prospective students should bring 2011 completed tax returns as well as their parents’ tax return.
High school seniors can make an appointment with academic advisors during the open house and talk with SMC faculty about programs and careers. Workshops on financial aid and on-campus housing are also scheduled at the open house.
The radio station U93 (92.9 FM) will be broadcasting live during the open house. High school juniors are welcome to attend.

Spring Pops Concert
offered March 23

A medley of jazz and rock as well as other popular styles will be performed by the Southwestern Michigan College Select Voices, show choir and jazz ensemble during the Spring Pops Concert March 23.
The concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will be presented in the theater of the Dale A. Lyons Building on the college’s Dowagiac campus.
General admission is $7 and $5 for students and senior citizens. Individuals 18 and under are admitted free. Call  the SMC Box Office at (800) 456-8675 ext. 1280.
The jazz ensemble repertoire includes “Let’s Dance,” “Amazing Grace,” “Blue Sky for a Rainy Day,” “Oleo,” “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy,” “Think,” “Taylor the Latte Boy” and “Kiss Me.” Select Voices will perform “Eleanor Rigby.” The show choir will sing “Someone Like You,” “Teenage Dream,” “Always a Bridesmaid, Never a Bride,” “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Suddenly Seymour.”
