Visiting Paw Paw put the finishing touches on its first Wolverine Conference girls basketball championship Friday night with a 55-33 win over Dowagiac.

The Redskins (18-2, 15-1 Wolverine) left no doubt that they would claim the outright championship as they jumped out to a 19-3 first quarter lead and never looked back.

The Chieftains (2-18, 2-14 Wolverine) trailed 28-15 at halftime.

Desirae Humphrey scored a game-high 18 points to lead Paw Paw offensively. She was the only Redskin to reach double figures.

Natalie Kmet added nine points.

Correshia Rodgers paced Dowagiac with 15 points. Regina Kennedy added four.

Dowagiac will now prepare for tonight’s Class B District Tournament opener against Parchment at Coloma.

The Chieftains and Panthers tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
