Four Flags Council on Tourism: Woodcarving show, chili supper this weekend

Published 6:57 pm Friday, November 4, 2011

November begins the holiday season activities with bazaars and craft shows, Downtown Holiday Homecoming in Niles and Old Fashion Christmas Celebration in downtown Dowagiac.  Don’t forget to pick out your holiday tree at Butler Tree Farm, Yule Tide Acres or at Whispering Pines Christmas Trees. If there is a good amount of snow, skiing, snowmobiling and tubing are abundant in the Four Flags areas at Swiss Valley and Five Pines, or warm up and shop for antiques in Dowagiac, Berrien Springs, Niles or Buchanan.
Remember that Friday is Veteran’s Day, so look for many local celebrations to honor our veterans. What is a veteran? A “veteran” whether active duty, discharged, retired or reserve, is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America” for an amount of “up to and including their life.” That is an honor. And there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.  So please remember to take a moment of your time to honor our veterans.
Also remember to visit your local libraries and senior centers for many other activities.
For more information visit Four Flags Area’s website, www.fourflagsarea.org or call (269) 684-7444.
