DOWAGIAC — Justice Billingsley, of South Side High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, has signed her National Junior College Athletic Association letter of intent to play women’s basketball at Southwestern Michigan College.

“Justice finished her senior year leading the conference in scoring,” said South Side Coach Juanita Goodwell. “From her freshman year, she had always been a shooter averaging double figures per game. During her final two years of school, she opened up her game and started scoring many different ways. She had to move from a shooting guard to a point guard, which allowed her to become one of the most consistent offensive threats in the area. We were blessed to have her here at South and she will be a great addition at the next level.”

Billingsley joins Caley Strahan, of Kankakee, Illinois; Kate Gilroy, of Grosse Ile; Shiyah Forte, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; Khalise Collins, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Rayvan Rush, of Lansing, Illinois; Atyanna Alford, of Cassopolis; Cam Edmondson, of Harvey, Illinois; Bella Cullifer, of Constantine; Maggie Weller, of Dowagiac; and Olivia Robinson, of Roscoe, Illinois, as the eleventh signed member of SMC’s 2024 recruiting class, plus expected walk-ons Aniyah Samuel, of Detroit; and Kayla Johnson, also of Harvey, Illinois. Amara Palmer of Niles returns for her sophomore season.

“History is being written before our eyes,” said SMC Coach Jay Jenkins. “The phrase ‘what’s meant to be, will be’ suggests that if something is destined to happen, it will happen, no matter what actions are taken to prevent or achieve it. It’s related to nature and the idea that everything in the world is a result of one’s actions. Justice Billingsley is a human highlight reel. Justice is destined to be great and we are happy to have her as a Roadrunner.”
