NILES — A new business was officially welcomed into the community Tuesday afternoon.

The Greater Niles Chamber of Commerce and other community members gathered to celebrate The Embers at Signal Point, 1487 Signal Point, Niles, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Owned by Kim Putney, Hunter Putney and Carli Putney of Sugarellas Catering, The Embers at Signal Point opened its doors in 2022. Once a privately owned nine hole golf course, the newly remodeled space specializes in weddings, corporate events, holiday parties, showers, graduations, birthday parties, and much more.

“The role of the chamber is to help our local businesses bring exposure to their facilities, and the opportunities the businesses have to use them,” said Chamber Executive Director Ryan Boeskool. “Many of the chamber members that walked in here today at the Ember said ‘I’ve never been here before,’ ‘This is an amazing facility with an amazing view and great food.’ They get to meet the owner and establish a relationship with them and something that lasts beyond the ribbon cutting open house event itself and that’s why we do this.”

Sugarellas Catering operates the commercial kitchen on premises. The catering company also travels off site to other events. The space has an in-house bar specializing in creative signature cocktails. Sugarellas holds a travel license in the State of Michigan, which allows for mobile bar service – with alcohol provided – for off premise events. The company has two mobile bar carriages that can be dressed for any event.

In March of 2023, The Embers introduced monthly supper clubs that feature unique, themed dinners such as Harry Potter, Willy Wonka, Broadway musicals and many more. This monthly event features unique courses fitted to each theme and signature cocktails paired perfectly with each event.
