BUCHANAN — Host Buchanan celebrated its seniors with an 8-0, non-conference victory over visiting Comstock Monday night.

“It was a great evening celebrating our seniors Avery Yoder and Ashlyn Herbst,” said Buchanan Coach Russell Philip.

The Bucks, who have already clinched their first Lakeland Conference championship in 10 years, got off to a quick start with Sutherland Philip scoring a pair of goals.

Evyn Pruett scored four goals for the Bucks, who will wrap up conference play Thursday against Berrien Springs. Maddie and Belle Overmeyer each added a goal.

“Looking forward to our final conference game against Berrien Springs on Thursday,” Philip said. “We’ve clinched the Lakeland Conference for the first time in 10 years and are hoping to finish strong as we head into the post season.”

Edwardsburg at Battle Creek Harper Creek

Senior Chloe Baker scored the lone goal for the Eddies in their 3-1 non-conference loss to Harper Creek Monday.

Dowagiac at Paw Paw

The Red Wolves outshot the Chieftains 20-5 in their 5-0 win over Dowagiac in a battle of former Wolverine Conference foes Monday.

Paw Paw led 1-0 at halftime.

“We got out hustled today,” said Dowagiac Coach Joey Pasternak. “We weren’t ready for the physicality and speed of the game we let them control the pace and it took us out of our game and style we fell more into controlled kick ball rather than possessing as a team. In warmups, we looked sleepy and not focused and it transferred to the game. We are a much better team than what we showed today.”
