Bucks sweep Coloma to improve to 20-1

BUCHANAN — The No. 3-ranked Buchanan softball team played in less than ideal conditions when it hosted Coloma for a non-conference doubleheader Thursday.

The teams played through damp, cold and windy conditions, which did not seem to affect the Bucks, who swept the Comets 10-0 and 14-3 to improve to 20-1 on the season.

Hailee Kara toss a two-hitter in the opening game with eight strikeouts and no walks.

Buchanan scored 10 runs on 10 hits, including a 3-for-4 performance from Camille Lozmack, who homered and drove in five runs.

Keegan May was 3-for-3 with four RBIs, while Cameron Carlson was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Faith Bartley added a double.

In the nightcap, Lozmack scatter eight hits and had seven strikeouts for the Bucks.

Buchanan added another 12 hits, including two each from Kara, Caitlyn Horvath and Bailey Trail. Apen Berry and Horvath both doubled, while Kara hit a home run and drove in four runs. Horvath had three RBIs.
