DOWAGIAC — The Dowagiac soccer team did not play its best against visiting Berrien Springs according to Chieftain Coach Joey Pasternak.

But it was good enough to shutout the Shamrocks 3-0 in a Lakeland Conference match Wednesday.

“It wasn’t pretty today, but we got the job done today,” he said. “We showed flashes of good play, but didn’t play a constant game. We kind of fell into their style, but when the girls played the right way we got opportunities and we finished when we got the chance.”

Johannah McDonald scored a pair of goals to lead the Chieftains, who were up 1-0 at halftime. Maggie Weller had the other goal for Dowagiac, which is now 2-2-1 in Lakeland matches.
