Edwardsburg wins final event to edge Three Rivers

EDWARDSBURG — It came down to the final event of the Wolverine Conference boys track meet between the host Eddies and Three Rivers Monday.

Edwardsburg prevailed as it pulled out a 69-68 victory over the Wildcats.

Three Rivers defeated the Edwardsburg girls track team 74-62.

The Eddies’ 3,200-meter relay team of Dane Bailey, Maguire Johnson, Zach Rausch and George Scupham edged Three Rivers to win the event and the meet.

Bailey also won the 1,600-meters (4:50.59) and the 3,200-meters (10:15.27).

Mobius Stubblefield was a multiple winner as he took first in the 400-meters (53.47) and was part of the Eddies’ winning 1,600-meter relay team which ran a time of 3:36.30.

In the field events, Larson Fessenden won the shot put (48-7) and the discus (133-2). Also finishing first were Aydon Goorhouse in the high jump (6-1) and Noah Jacobs in the long jump (17-11).

On the girls’ side, Macy Andress was a four-time winner.

Andress won the 100-meters (13.49), the 100 hurdles (17.84) and the 300 hurdles (52.86). She was also a member of the winning 400-meter relay team along with Khaylin Homana, Amelia Colvin and Sarah Pippin). That unit posted a time of 55.71.

Piper Bryant won the 400-meters (1:08.68) and was part of the winning 1,600-meter relay team along with Cassidy Frentz, Kennedy Kaylor and Liyah Worthington. They ran a time of 4:50.35.

In field events, Pippin added the discus (76-3) and high jump (5-4) to her list of victories. Lily Peat won the pole vault with a height of 8-6.
