Bucks sweep Chieftains, Eddies

BUCHANAN — The Buchanan softball team showed no rust as it returned from spring break to sweep Dowagiac and Edwardsburg Tuesday and Wednesday,

The Bucks opened up Lakeland Conference play by defeating the visiting Chieftains 4-2 and 6-2.

Buchanan hosted the Eddies in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday, winning 10-1 and 8-2 as it improved to 5-0 overall and 2-2 in league action.

 

Dowagiac at Buchanan

In the opening game against the Chieftains, Buchanan had six hits, four of which were for extra bases.

Berry and Bartly both tripled, while Hannah Herman and Kara both doubled.

In the nightcap, the Bucks finished with eight hits. Herman had a double.

 

Edwardsburg at Buchanan

Hailee Kara continues to be dominant in the circle for the Bucks as she tossed a one-hitter against the Eddies and a four-hitter against the Chieftains.

Buchanan banged out 10 hits in the opener, led by Faith Bartly and Aspen Berry’s home runs.

In the nightcap, the Bucks had 13 more hits, including another home run by Berry and doubles by Bartley and Camille Lozmack, who was the winning pitcher.

The Eddies (1-2) had four hits in the second game, including a double by Mia Castelucci.
