EDWARDSBURG — St. Peters Masonic Lodge, in conjunction with Edwardsburg Eagle Lake School and the Circle Credit Union are once again hosting a Books for Bikes Program for third grade students.
Eight bicycles will be awarded to members of the third-grade class who read teacher-approved books and Circle Federal Credit Union is contributing bike helmets for the winners. In addition, Vincent Pisani of K.P. Electric has donated a bike for the contest.
Every time a student reads and earns five points through Reading Renaissance, they can submit an entry to the contest. The drawing for the winners is scheduled to take place on May 24, 2024.
The Masonic Lodge has served the Edwardsburg community for more than 150 years. The Books for Bikes program was initiated more than a decade ago in memory of Marcia Barrs-Parrish, mother of Past Master Robert Parrish. Robert Parrish said her efforts instilled a love of reading, which the program hopes to pass on.
