DOWAGIAC — When Southwestern Michigan College hosted its Tri-State Holiday Classic, Coach Ray Jenkins noticed a pair of players on the Thornton Township High School squad.

One of those players, Camryn Edmondson, played well in the Harvey, Illinois’ team’s 53-29 win over Dowagiac.

On Friday, Jenkins and SMC announced that Edmondson had signed a National Junior College Athletic Association letter of intent to play for the Roadrunners in 2024-25.

“Cam is a phenomenal guard that can take our program to the next level,” Jenkins said. “She is a great student-athlete and we’re happy to have her on board.”

Edmondson, who scored 14 points against the Chieftains, joins Bella Cullifer, of Constantine; Maggie Weller, of Dowagiac; and Olivia Robinson, of Roscoe, Illinois, in SMC’s 2024 recruiting class.

“Cam is very deserving of the opportunity to play at the next level,” Thornton Coach Eric Armstrong said. “Cam is very coachable and has the desire to put the work in to be the best that she can be.”

Southwestern Michigan is currently 14-2 overall and 0-1 in Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference play. The Roadrunners host Kalamazoo Valley Community College in a Western Conference contest at the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse Wednesday.
