Arthur “Dale” Hartsell, 93, of Cassopolis, died peacefully, Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, in the comfort of his family’s presence.
His life began Nov. 12, 1930, in Penn Township, one of three children born to Francis and Ruth (Wright) Hartsell. He married Alene Harkins, Aug. 6, 1950, in Penn Friends Church in Penn Township, Michigan.
Dale owned Dale Hartsell & Sons for over 30 years and Cass U-Stor — currently still owned by the family — along with the family farm that is still run today by his son, Keith. He served on the Penn Township board and the Butler Ag Council for many years. Dale enjoyed many winters in Florida and autumns at his cabin in Trout Creek Michigan hunting and fishing.
Dale will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Alene Hartsell; two sons; Craig (Debbie) Hartsell, Keith (Karen) Hartsell; three grandchildren; Teresa (Scott) Wellman, Todd (Kimberly) Hartsell, Kurt (Sara) Hartsell; eight great grandchildren; Hailey (Hunter) Tietsort, Kaitlyn Hartsell, Kiersten Hartsell, Sydnie Wellman, Blake Hartsell, Jered Wellman, Jennifer Blair, Adam Blair; one great-great granddaughter; Madelynn Smoker; his brother, Larry L. Hartsell; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Patricia Mallo; his brother in law, Clare Mallo; and his sister-in-law Katha Hartsell.
Family and friends will gather at Pleasant View Church of Christ, 60550 Crooked Creek Rd. Cassopolis, on Friday Jan. 5, 2024, from 12 Noon until the time of the service celebrating Dale’s life at 2 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
