Patricia Louise (Haines) Goens, 75, of Cassopolis, died peacefully, Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023, in the comfort of her family’s presence, just two days shy of her seventy-sixth birthday.
Her life began Dec. 26, 1947, in Vandalia, Michigan, the middle of three children born to Emerson and Vivian Haines, Sr. Patricia graduated from Niles High School in 1965 and Western Michigan University in 1997. She was the first woman in the Instrument Shop at Upjohn where she worked for many years. Patricia co-founded the Girls Softball League in Paw Paw, Michigan while her children were in grade school. During her time at Upjohn, she put both her daughters through Michigan State University before she completed her degree. She considered this one of her greatest accomplishments. Patricia enjoyed athletics. She enjoyed softball and racquetball and both as long as was capable. She enjoyed watching the Bears play football, listening to Prince, Tina Turner and weekend road trips listening to the Blues.
Patricia will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Vivian Renee Daniels, Sheri Lyne (Rodney) Wilson; grandchildren; Patricia Carlee Daniels, Rodney Jay Wilson II, Jaycelyne Marie Wilson; one great grandson; Josiah Luis Russell Ringler; her niece, Lisa King; nephews, Dean (Dawn) Lawson, Damon Lawson; and Goddaughters, Sherry Samuels and Penny Samuels.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Vivian Kathleen Lawson; one brother, Emerson Haines, Jr.; one nephew, Emerson Haines III.
Family and friends will gather Thursday Jan. 4, 2023, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis for a time of sharing memories and telling stories.
Patricia will be laid to rest in Calvin Community Cemetery.
