Roundup: Dowagiac splits at Decatur; Bobcats top Mustangs

DECATUR — The Dowagiac wrestling team split a pair of non-conference matches at the Decatur Quad Wednesday.

The short-handed Chieftains were defeated by the host Raiders 54-24, while they rebounded to beat Lawrence 54-14.

In Three Oaks, Brandywine earned a 36-11 non-conference win over River Valley.

 

Decatur Quad

Winning a pair of matches for Dowagiac were Markus Ottinger (106), Cody White (132), Cameron White (144), Israel Villegas (150), Isiah Hill (215) and Cal Chapman (285).

Winning his only match of the night was Jacob Villegas (157).

The Chieftains will head to Defiance, Ohio for the Tri-State Border Wars Thursday and Friday.

 

Brandywine at River Valley

Winning matches for the Bobcats were Kaiden Rieth (138), Agustin Gonzalez (157), Maddison Ward (165), Gavin Schoff (175), Jack Perez-Gonzalez (190), Josh Patrolia (215) and Andrew McKee (285).

With the victory, Schoff (13-0) is now in a three-way tie for 11th place for victories at Brandywine. Rieth (13-1) is in a three-way tie for 19th place.

Ward (10-0) is the No. 1-ranked wrestler at 170-pounds according to Michigan Grappler.

The Bobcats will travel to Montague for an invitational Dec. 30.
