NILES — A Niles man was sentenced to prison Monday in Berrien County Trial Court.

Taylor Lee Fox, 31, of Niles, pleaded guilty to resisting and obstructing police and was sentenced to 14 months to two years in prison with credit for 17 days served and $198 in fines and costs.

Fox also pleaded guilty to violating his probation from a 2022 carrying a concealed weapon sentence and was sentenced to a concurrent prison term of 14 months to five years. His probation was revoked and he has credit for 217 days already served.

The incident for the current charge occurred July 8 in Niles. The probation violation incident involving carrying a concealed weapon in an automobile occurred a year previously on July 7, 2022.

Fox took responsibility for his actions and said his incarceration has been a learning experience for him.

Berrien County Trial Judge Jennifer Smith told Fox that his record is not trending in the right direction with his new conviction coming on top of previous convictions for weapons and domestic violence.

“I think you can learn from it, the question is whether you will,” she said.
