DOWAGIAC — Rebounding from its loss to Otsego Thursday night, the Edwardsburg girls basketball team defeated Hillcrest Crest High School 41-30 at the Southwestern Michigan College Tri-State Holiday Classic Saturday afternoon.
The Eddies squared their record at 3-3 with the non-conference victory at the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse.
The game was close throughout the first half with Edwardsburg leading by just one point at the end of the first and second quarters.
Leading 12-11 heading into the third quarter, the Eddies outscored Hillcrest 11-8 to open up a 23-19 advantage with eight minutes left to play.
Edwardsburg scored 18 points in the fourth quarter to earn the 11-point victory.
Kourtney Zarycki led the Eddies with a game-high 15 points. Lainie Dorow added 11 points and Maddie Pobuda six.
Dajha Johnson had 2 points to pace Hillcrest.
Edwardsburg returns to the court Monday night as it travels to Buchanan for a non-conference contest against Buchanan.
