Dennis Allen Frechette Sr., 72, of Dowagiac, died peacefully Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, in the comfort of his family’s presence.
His life began May 7, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, the youngest of three children born to David and Jeanette Frechette. He married Cathy Doty June 30, 1970, in Chicago, Illinois.
Dennis served honorably in the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserve for thirty-three years. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. He and Cathy cherished their family and loved having everyone out to the lake and being on the boat. He enjoyed grilling and just being surrounded by his family, here in Michigan. He also loved his dog, Ella Rose.
Dennis will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years Cathy Frechette of Dowagiac; daughters, Christy (David) Peterson of Dublin, Carla (Ryan ) Aide of Montfort, Wisconsin, Carolyn Frechette of Round Lake Beach, Illinois; son, Dennis (Jenny) Frechette Jr. of Lake Villa, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Michael Pranschke of Kalamazoo, Caitlyn (Adam) Howard of Tennessee, Austin Frechette of Illinois, Isabelle (Jackson) Gifford of Colorado, Ethan Peterson of Illinois, Wyatt, Ayden, Charlie; three great grandchildren, Anna, Cain, Ayla; sister, Carol Frechette of Dowagiac; his beloved dog, Ella Rose; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Frechette.
Family and friends will gather from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis for a time of sharing memories and telling stories, with Military Honors being accorded at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
The family prefers contributions in memory of Dennis be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Post Office Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
