Eddies rally in fourth quarter to edge Lakeshore

EDWARDSBURG — Kourtney Zarycki’s game-high 18 points made sure that the debut of Edwardsburg Coach Tracey Bloodworth was a success Tuesday night.

The Eddies (1-0) had to rally from a 41-32 deficit at the start of the fourth quarter to pull out the 47-45 victory in the season opener for both schools. Edwardsburg outscored the Lancers 15-4 in the final eight minutes of play.

Lakeshore jumped out to a 20-12 lead after one quarter, but the Eddies were able to tie the score at 26-26 by halftime, outscoring the Lancers 14-6 in the second quarter.

Lakeshore again grabbed the lead in the third quarter to take a nine-point advantage into the final stanza.

Besides Zarycki, the Eddies also got eight points from Chloe Baker, six points for Ella Zache and five points from Lainie Dorow.

Paige Lies led the Lancers with15 points. Megan Wurster added 12 points.

The Eddies are back in action Friday night as they travel to Three Rivers to open up the Wolverine Conference portion of their schedule.
