Brandywine rolls to second straight victory

NILES — A strong defensive effort allowed the Brandywine boys basketball team to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Bobcats held visiting Coloma to 16 points in the opening half and then allowed just 10 points in the final 16 minutes in their 70-6 victory over the Comets.

Brandywine outscored Coloma 16-9 after one quarter and then extended its lead to 29-16 by halftime.

The Bobcats exploded for 26 points in the third quarter to start to pull away from the Comets. Leading 55-23 heading to the fourth quarter, Brandywine held Coloma to three points to cruise home with the non-conference victory.

Jaremiah Palmer scored a game-high 14 points to lead the Bobcats, who also got 10 points from Bryon Linley. Jamier Palmer, Nylen Goins and Brock Dye all finished with nine points.

Tyrell Taylor had 11 points to pace the Comets. He was the lone Coloma play to reach double figures.

Brandywine heads to Stevensville Tuesday night to face Lakeshore in another non-conference contest.
