NILES — Lifeplan is gearing up to host its inaugural Hope Tournament Pickleball Fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 9 at Plym Park, 401 Marmot St., Niles.

The doubles-only tournament, sponsored by local pickleball manufacturers Paddletek and Tmpr Sports, begins at 9 a.m. and will feature three levels of play – beginner, intermediate and advanced – at a cost of $60 per team for a minimum of five games. The top three placers from each flight will receive medals and winners will also receive prizes.

To register for the tournament, visit LifePlan’s website. The registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 4. Lifeplan Student Outreach Manager and event coordinator Greg Rensberry said that proceeds from the tournament will be reinvested back into the community.

Rensberry will also be hosting a short, free Pickleball 101 clinic at 8 a.m. Sept. 9 for the first 12 people who respond. No equipment is needed, as paddles and balls will be provided. To register for the clinic, contact Rensberry at gregr@lifeplan.org. It will be first come first serve.
