Drew Gourlay is a senior on the Niles baseball team.
Activities: Soccer, football, bowling, baseball, National Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa (Lake Michigan College).
Hobbies: Playing sports, hanging out with my friends and family, playing games and doing math.
My favorite baseball memory: Beating Dowagiac in the first round of districts at Dowagiac.
Future plans: Attend the University of Michigan to study engineering.
Awards/accomplishments: Individual Academic All-State baseball (junior and senior year), Individual Academic-All State football, All-Conference (soccer), All-District (soccer), Team Academic All-State (baseball), Team Academic All-State Honorable Mention (football, soccer), Team Academic All-State (soccer), first team All-Conference Bowling (junior, senior), conference champions (bowling), All-Regional team (bowling), individual state qualifier (bowling).
Advice to underclassmen: Work hard, get involved at school and don’t be afraid to lead instead of follow.
How have your been making the best of being quarantined? I kept working hard in all of my college and high school classes in order to finish strong. My family did a lot of puzzles and played several games.
