EDWARDSBURG — Edwardsburg Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today for residents of Edwardsburg and Union who have found themselves for the first time in a tight situation due to loss of employment and the coronavirus, said officials. The pantry is also open 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

To slow the spread of COVID-19, pantry volunteers, now called “corona crusaders,” according to organizers, have moved the pantry to a drive-through model. Volunteers have prepackaged groceries that they will load into cars that pull up to the pantry.

In addition to implementing COVID-19 precautions, the pantry is asking the community for donations during its Lenten Challenge. The pantry is seeking community donations to match a $6,000 anonymous donation. Check donations can be made to the Edwardsburg Food Pantry.

The pantry is located at 24832 US-12 on the rear west side of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic church in Edwardsburg.
