Niles tops Bison for second win of season

NEW BUFFALO — Visiting Niles outscored New Buffalo 17-4 in the second quarter en route to a 55-22 non-conference boys basketball victory Tuesday night.

The Vikings, who dropped 66-51 a decision to host Berrien Springs on Saturday night, led 25-10 at halftime. Niles held the Bison (2-1) to just 12 second-half points.

The Vikings (2-3) were led by Cerious Wilson’s game-high 15 points. Niles also got 14 points from Mari Nichols and 12 points from Brayden Lake.

Kayden Parmley led New Buffalo with seven points.

Niles will host Portage Central in a SMAC West Division doubleheader. The girls game tips off at 5:45 p.m., with the boys game scheduled for 7 p.m.

Niles at Berrien Springs

Host Berrien Springs (2-2) took at 17-14 first-quarter lead on Niles, and was able to pull away to a 66-51 non-conference victory Saturday night.

The Shamrocks led the Vikings at halftime 33-29. Berrien Springs took a 48-42 lead into the final eight minutes.

Wilson led Niles (1-3) with 15 points. Nichols finished with nine points, and Mike Gilcrese 8.
