Bobcats rout Coloma 53-33

NILES — Host Brandywine routed Coloma 53-33 in the Bobcat Den to open its 2019-20 girls basketball season Tuesday night.
The Bobcats (1-0) outscored Coloma 20-5 in the first quarter and was never really threatened after that.
Brandywine did struggle offensively in the second quarter, as it managed just six points, but the Bobcats still led 26-13 at the intermission. The Comets (0-1) cut into the lead even further in the third quarter, outscoring the home team 15-10 to make it 36-28 heading into the final eight minutes of play.
Brandywine regrouped and outscored Coloma 17-5 to earn the win.
Alexis Rhodes led the Bobcats with 13 points, while Malikiyyah Abdullah and Zakiyyah Abdullah finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Megan Koenigshof led the Comets with a game-high 15 points.
Brandywine is back in action Friday night as it travels to Berrien Springs to open up BCS Athletic Red Division play. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
