STARFISH STORY: Ross Tidey embodies Chieftain spirit

This year my Starfish recognition goes to someone who has more than become a part of the Dowagiac Union High School family. Ross Tidey, an intern in our counseling department, has become a vital and appreciated part of our team in just a short amount of time.

There are so many positive things I could say about Ross, but I would like to touch on just a few that have meant a lot to not only me but to the students at Union High School.

Ross, being a former student at DUHS, has a strong spirit for the Chieftains. Ross took this spirit to a new level, taking on the responsibility of keeping the student section at home football games loud and supportive of our team.

Ross is also very proactive in asking what he can do to help and ask questions to help him learn and grow as a counselor. I can personally say his help in the hallways and other unstructured times is invaluable.

Ross has a giving personality and is always willing to step in anywhere he sees a need for students.

Ross can adapt, taking on whatever role he can, to help a student meet their potential,or just have a better day.

His positive attitude, willingness to learn and assist, and full commitment on day one has been appreciated and will be missed.

Ross, thank you for your help and all of Dowagiac Union High School wishes you well.
