Cailyn Murphy is a senior on the Dowagiac football team.

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

CM: Second-team all-conference in football.

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

CM: Losing to Paw Paw for a playoff bid.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

CM: My mother, because she is my motivation.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

CM: Never.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

CM: Missing a dunk.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

CM: Basketball.

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

CM: Because I would be better than my brother.

How would you give away $50,000?

CM: I would give it back to my community.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

CM: Dowagiac football.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

CM: Study to become a cop.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

CM: Stay focused.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

CM: Traveling in basketball.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

CM: “You are going to be better than me” — Caleb Murphy.

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

CM: Give a speech. Yes, it helped overcome my fear.

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

CM: TJ (Reed) helped others in class with our project.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

CM: Playing football. It is my life.
